Explorers Snowboard program

Season Long skiing/riding program for children ages 5-13 who can control their speed through wedge turns on green terrain and can independently ride the chair lift.

Mountain Explorers is a season-long program that provides students with new learning opportunities on the mountain! The goal is to elevate their skiing and riding abilities while exploring the mountain.  Solidifying the basic techniques and skills that will take them on a lifelong journey of skiing and riding.  Lesson focus for each group member will be differentiated to meet the specific needs and goals of the student. This means that unlike a traditional lesson, where the class works on the same drill all at once for a specific goal, each drill will be customized to each student’s goals. This program is more about exploration through exposure to evolve Explorers into Adventurers so they can use the entire mountain as their playground!

A core group of instructors will be assigned to the groups for the duration of the program. The participant must have the minimum ability to ski or ride green terrain comfortably and consistently link turns in both directions to control their speed skiing/snowboarding and independently ride a lift with other children or with the general public after receiving instructions in order to participate. Children who cannot ride the Meadows triple  independently will be moved to a lower ability group.

Based on the mountain conditions of the day, skiers and riders may find themselves:

  • ripping the fresh corduroy

  • slashing up the pow pow

  • taking steps to matching their skis or carving on their boards or

  • navigating through the glades

Every day will bring a different adventure for the kids in this program. Skiers/snowboarders will be grouped by ability.

Helmets are required for all program participants.

Please be sure to select the correct program for the ability level of your child. Underestimating the ability level of your child is much easier to adjust for rather than overestimating ability level. Children who do not meet the required minimum ability level and chairlift ability will be moved down to other programs based on availability.

Please arrive for drop off at 9:30am in the Berkshire Room of the Berkshire Lodge. Designated drop off times enable the groups to be out on the snow for the start time of 10:00am.  If you are late to the snow for the start time (10:00am) you risk forfeiting or you will need to wait at a designated lift that day  for the group to come down and pick up your child on the next run. This time will not be rescheduled, nor will a refund/credit be given.

  • Children must arrive dressed and ready for snow.

  • Parents are responsible for picking up rental equipment and getting children geared up.

  • Due to chair lift capacity limits, children may be required to ride the chair without an instructor

  • Please use an email you check regularly to register your child; most communication regarding program operations is done through email.
