This program is designed for young skiers who have an interest in further developing their fundamental skiing skills and want to become ski racers!  Skiers are grouped together based on skiing ability. Racers in the Development Program will concentrate on focused free skiing and drills designed to address balance, agility, edging, and rotary skills. Participants will eventually progress through the Race Program pipeline, graduating to Interclub racing, and Tri-State.

The Development program takes place exclusively on Saturdays. It begins on Saturday,12/21 followed by our Holiday Race Camp (12/26-1/1), and continues every Saturday after that through March 16. During the first session, all participants are evaluated and grouped based on skiing ability. Each day, activity begins at 9:00 am and ends at 2:30 pm, with a supervised break for lunch at 11 am to 11:30 am. If you would like to take your child and eat lunch with them, they will need to be back in the Berkshire Room at 11:30 am ready to go back out on the snow.  If you are providing lunch you purchase for your child, please drop the lunch off as the children arrive so they have time to eat their lunch.

Parent membership in the Parents Racing Association is required. The Parents Association mission is to support the events and activities of the Catamount Ski Team in ways agreed upon with the director of the racing program. Joining this association is a wonderful way to plug into our racing community, learn some of the ins and outs of the sport from veteran families and experienced ski racing parents, and help support some of the great events we host here at Catamount.

Please be sure to select the correct program for the ability level of your child. Underestimating the ability level of your child is much easier to adjust for rather than overestimating their ability level.  Children who do not meet the required minimum ability level and chairlift ability will be moved down to other programs based on availability.

Please arrive on the snow in front of the Catamount Quad for drop off at 8:45am. Designated drop off times enable the groups to be out on the snow for the start time of 9:00am. If you are late to the on snow start time you risk forfeiting or will need to wait at a designated lift that day for the group to come down and pick up your child on the next run. This time will not be rescheduled, nor will a refund/credit be given.

  • Children must arrive dressed and ready for snow.

  • Parents are responsible for picking up rental equipment and getting children geared up.

  • Due to chair lift capacity limits, children may be required to ride chair with other students, without an adult

  • Please use an email you check regularly to register your child; most communication regarding program operations is done through email.
